Since 1972 Askew Appliance has served Greene County and its surrounding areas.

Doug Askew opened the doors to Askew Appliance in the fall of 1972 after working eleven years for the local GM car dealership. Doug’s vision for an appliance store accelerated with the impoundment of Lake Oconee.  With the lake came the need for more brands and higher-end appliances to fill the luxury home market demands.  As more manufacturers were added, there came an increased responsibility for service and the need for a dedicated quality service technician.  In 1983 Doug hired a young Tommy Armour, who later became the service manager when the company divided its team into two, separate but united, components of sales and service.

Doug’s oldest son, Tim, joined the company in 1996 and worked in all facets of the company including deliveries, installations, service and sales. The reputation of product knowledge and service after the sale continued to grow and spread to the outlying areas including Atlanta, Augusta and Macon.  In 2001, after almost 30 years, Doug turned the business over to Tim.  Tim has continued to expand the company with the addition of quality manufacturers and quality personnel to sell, deliver, install, and service the products.

For over forty years Askew Appliance has served the lake area and surrounding communities with excellent products and service at a fair and reasonable price.
